Artemis is proud to have genealogists on hand to respond to our clients’ needs.

Genealogy is the study and tracing of lines of descent most often referred to as the family line, or tree.

While genealogy is not viewed by some as an investigative tool, at Artemis we view things differently and consider genealogy to be a complementary resource in many investigations.

Our genealogists have access to premium systems and official records to assist in tracing clients’ relatives for a range of reasons that may include:

  • Reuniting families
  • Tracing missing persons or family members
  • Adopted persons tracing birth parents (see below)*
  • Execution of wills
  • Enhancing open source investigations and background checks
    Paternity and maternity matters

*The Children Act 1975, and the subsequent Adoption Act 1976, made it easier for adopted people to access their birth and adoption records. The legislation was made retrospective. Therefore, those adopted prior to November 12 1975 have to be interviewed and offered counselling before being given information which could lead to applying for their birth records.

A minimum of three hours will be charged for genealogy tasks.

We handle all information gained in accordance with the Data Protection Principles and are registered with the Information Commissioners Office.
